Wastewater Treatment Plants

The wastewater treatment plant for the 6th of October City is located approximately 25 km west of Cairo and treats the wastewater of the 6th of October City settlement. The project was awarded in September 2019 to FINE PEAK and went into partial operation in June 2022. It is separated into 3 parallel treatment lines, each with a capacity of 50,000 m3/day. The scope of FINE PEAK included the Hydraulic & Process design check works, supply, and installation of the electromechanical. The plant comprises also full tertiary treatment with slow sand filters.

- Inlet & Screening chamber:

• 6 Mechanical raked screens SS316L

- Grit and grease removal (6 channels 18 x 1.5 m & 3.11 m depth each and 2 grease channels 0.6 m in width):

• 3 Grit scraper bridges
• 6 Grit Air Lift Pumps 20 m³/h @ 10 m
• 2 Shaftless Screw Grit Classifiers 100 m³/h
• 4 Rotary piston blowers 900 Nm³/h @ ∆p 400 mbar

- Primary Sedimentation tanks (6 concrete tanks, 33 m dia. each):

• 6 half-length Rotating Scraper Bridges 18.5 m length
• Stainless Steel Outlet V-notch weirs

- Fine bubbles diffusers aeration tanks (6 rectangular concrete tanks, 70 x 24 m each):

• 36 Air diffusers grids
• 16,560 12” air diffusers
• Stainless Steel 316L Piping System

- Blowers station:

• 12 Rotary piston blowers Q2 11,722 Nm³/h @ ∆p 700 mbar with VFD
• Complete air distribution galvanized steel piping system

- Final settling tanks (12 concrete tanks, 33 m dia. Each):

• 12 half-length Rotating Scraper Bridges 18.5 m
• Stainless Steel Outlet V-notch weirs

- 3 Raw (Primary) excess sludge pumping stations:

• 6 Submersible dry-pit excess sludge pumps 45 m³/h @ 15 m

- 3 Return & excess sludge pumping stations:

• 6 Return sludge Archimedes Screw pumps 2,100 m³/h @ 6.5 m
• 6 Submersible excess sludge pumps 150 m³/h @ 12 m

- Sludge aerobic digesters (6 rectangular concrete tanks 64 x 22 m each):

• 18 Vertical surface aerators with oxygen capacity 135 kgO₂/h
• 18 Adjustable outlet weirs

- Digested sludge Pumping Station:

• 6 Submersible dry-pit sludge pumps 90 m³/h @ 12 m

- Sludge thickeners (3 concrete tanks, 24 m dia. Each):

• 3 Rotating thickening mechanisms
• Stainless Steel 316L V-notch weirs

- Thickened sludge Pumping Station:

• 3 Progressive cavity pumps 100 m³/h @ 40 m

- Effluent pumping station:

• 8 Effluent pumps 940m³/h @ 20m
• 2 Washing pumps 108m³/h @ 40m

- Sludge dewatering:

• 6 Belt filter press 43 m³/h each complete with feeding & washing pumps.
• 2 Belt conveyors
• 2 Polymer make-up units complete with preparation, storage tanks & feeding pumps.

- Drainage pumping station:

• 3 Drainage pumps 250m³/h @ 17.5m
• 2 Sanitary pumps 36m³/h @ 17.5m

- Diesel Electric generators building:

2 DG sets 3000 KVA complete with the fuel system
