The Plant had been constructed in 1921 on about 25,200 m² in Helwan Governorate and was designed for max. the capacity of 80,000 m3/day. The plant depends on the Nile River to provide the potable water to Helwan & Kafr El-Elou regions. During this long period, many enhancements had been done but because of the oldness of the plant, the capacity reduced to be 68,000 m3/day. For all the previous & the importance of the plant, this project has born. The scope of works for this project includes an extension of the facilities and equipment to increase the capacity to be 400,000 m3/day.
